OUTREACH


Cross is active in many outreach programs, either through personal support or by providing the use of our facilities.  Some of these are:

Military Family Support Group - Family members of service personnel meet monthly to discuss their mutual concerns and issues affecting their families.  This group atmosphere provides the comfort and support that is needed by those whose family members are serving their country. 

Food and Other Needs Program – Cross members regularly contribute to Love, Inc. and St. Vincent DePaul’s food pantries. 

Love, Inc. – Cross prepares and serves meals twice monthly at Love, Inc.

Shoes for Kids - Annually our congregation raises funds for Shoes for Kids which helps families who cannot afford new shoes for their children at the beginning of each school year.

Giving Tree – Annually at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter, Cross members donate various gifts and items by choosing item names off of a tree which are then forwarded to families in need in the area.

Refugee Support - Cross provides financial, emotional and spiritual support to refugee families from Burma.

Cross Quilters – Our quilters create approximately 175 quilts each year which are donated to Lutheran World Relief to provide warmth for the less fortunate in other parts of the world.  School Kits, Health Kits and Layette Kits are also sent.

Prayer Shawl Ministry – Knitters and Crocheters pray for recipients as they create beautiful shawls which are given to those who need comfort in times of crises. 

Crop Hunger Walk – Our church participates in the local Crop Walk to help raise awareness and funds to fight hunger in our community and in the world.

Fair Trade Coffee – Cross offers coffee for sale to our members through the ELCA Fair Trade Coffee which brings profits to third world country growers.

Bread for the World - We are active with the political arm of Bread for the World and support the Millennium Challenge legislation.

Boy Scouts – Cross is the sponsor of local Boy Scout troops.

Building Usage – Groups we provide support to by allowing the use of our facilities are Divorce Support Group, Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Genesis, Burlington Area Garden Club, Men’s Dartball League, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Ukulele Band.
